HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE SURFBOARD?

So your clearly your on here for a reason you cant' decide what size surfboard to get.

Well as long as your on here i know your going to hop out of here knowing exactly what size surfboard to get.

So let's dive right into it.

money$$$

some of the thing that can put you off a surfboard is the money.

Here are some of the cheapest to expensive foamies and fiberglass surfboards on the internet.

                   cheapest:                            mid range:                         expensive:

foamies:         sled                                  blue mako                      JS Softtops

fiber glass:    Vessel                              AQSS                         Timmy paterson

where to surf?

So, depending on your surf ability if your around an advanced beginner surfing on a  foamie/longboard usually you would want around about 2-3ft waves and offshore wind(perfect conditions)

beach breach, if your near an advanced beginner you almost always want to surf at a beach break, they offer a soft padding of sand and soft unbroken waves(green waves)

Perfect waves rolling into the beach at Martha Lavinia, on King Island, Tasmania,

point breaks, point breaks offer a long unbroken wave ether going right or left which can be good for beginners since its perfect breaking and going for miles but most point breaks have a rock bottom witch doesn't provide a nice soft landing and as a bonus you might damage your equipment.

volume?

volume is one of the most important thing we look for in a surfboard.

the more volume you have the easier its going to be to catch waves but harder to turn.

the less volume you have the harder it is to catch waves but the easier it is to turn.

so an accurate assumption would be at 60 kilos(kg) on a soft top at an advanced beginner would be about 50 liters.

or at 60 kilos(kg) on a fiberglass surfboard at an elite surfing ability more around 30 liters.

so it depends on your ability and weight for an accurate volume.

recommended size surfboard?

So there are a few different things to think about in size.

first is ability, depending on your ability you'll be able to know what size to get straight away.

.beginner (never surfed before) 9ft soft surfboard

.progressor (popping up on white wash) 8ft soft surfboard

.advanced beginner (riding green waves) 7ft soft surfboard

second is hight, here is an accurate assumption.

.6'0ft beginner (9'0ft surfboard)

.5'8ft beginner (8'0ft surfboard)

.5'0ft beginner (7'0ft surfboard

.6'0ft advanced beginner (8'0ft surfboard)

.5'8ft advanced beginner (7'0ft surfboard)

.5'0ft advanced beginner (6'0ft surfboard)

conclusion...

So now you know exactly what size surfboard to get.

and exactly how much volume you need in a surfboard.
